Terminal blocks—Accessories, or L02 systems, are used in electronic circuits for connecting electronic components, including switches, to a power source. Generally, terminal blocks replace individual wires in order to reduce clutter and increase safety. They are most often used in automotive, industrial, and medical applications.
L02 systems consists of terminal blocks which contain ports into which electrical wires can be inserted, and are connected to a switch, power supply, or a control device. Each port can be configured to fit a specific type of wire and the terminal block housing can be constructed from a variety of materials to ensure insulation and prevent short circuits.
Terminal blocks are constructed with different designs and features depending on the application. They can have male and/or female terminals, can be configured to allow or limit access to specific terminals, and can be soldered or crimped. The two most common types of terminal blocks are screw type and panel type, with both having their own unique advantages.
The screw type terminal blocks use screws to secure wires to the terminal block while the panel type terminal blocks use a sliding mechanism to secure the wires. The screw type terminal blocks are more reliable than the panel type as they are more secure and provide better insulation. Moreover, they are easier to install and remove. The panel type terminal blocks, however, are more compact than the screw type and are more cost efficient.
Terminal blocks also have a variety of working principles. They are used to both couple, or join, two electrical circuits together and to divide, or separate, one circuit into two parts. Coupling is achieved through a “jumper” which runs between two terminals, connecting the two circuits. Dividing is accomplished by inserting a separate terminal block between two circuits, isolating them from each other.
In general, terminal blocks offer many advantages to the electronic circuit. They reduce noise, eliminate loose wires and provide improved safety for the user. Furthermore, terminal blocks can be used with a variety of components and can be easily customized for a variety of applications.
