Chassis Mount Resistors are resistors used for mounting over or into an electronic chassis panel. They are designed for dissipating greater heat generated by electricity conversion, electricity transmission, electric charging and electric storage. The L50J100KE is one type of chassis mount resistor.
Application Field
In general, due to the reliability and durability of chassis mount resistors, such motors are widely used in high-power electrical applications such as telecommunication, telecom, navigation, oil & gas industry, HVAC systems, electrical vehicles, water heating systems, solar power, and medical equipments.
The L50J100KE chassis mount resistor has all of the features of traditional resistors, such as tolerance, power rating, voltage rating, surge rating and so on. It is particularly suitable for high-power applications with current higher than 10A, and voltage rating below 1000V. For example, it is great for high-power industrial motor, commercial lighting, industrial automation, and automotive applications.
Working Principle
The L50J100KE consists of an aluminum-alloy die-cast heat sink that acts as a conductor, along with metalized elements fixed thereon. The aluminum heat sink is shaped to ensure the highest performance in terms of maximum heat dissipation. On the back surface of the aluminum heat sink is the resistor element, which is a type of film resistor. The film resistor is made of a "KelF" material which is an inert material with outstanding electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics.
The resistor elements are metalized on the film surface and connected in electrical contact to the aluminum heat sink. Basically, when an electric current passes through the resistor, the metalized areas generate heat and send it to the aluminum surface. The aluminum surface is designed with shapes that increase its surface area and the heat dissipates from the aluminum surface to the surroundings. This helps to reduce the temperature rise of the resistor element, thus improving the overall thermal performance.
