Electrical specialty fuses, such as the LAD-FA-15-40, are designed for a variety of applications, including industrial, commercial, and residential locations. This versatile device provides current-limiting protection for single-phase and three-phase applications, including transformers, feeder panels, switchboards, and branch circuits. In addition, it provides overcurrent protection in applications where it is not practical to install high-capacity protective devices.
The LAD-FA-15-40 fuse consists of three types: ULlisted type LAD, UL listed type FA, and UL Listed type 15-40. Each type is designed for different applications and uses a different operating characteristic. The UL-Listed type LAD fuse has a current-limiting characteristic which can be adjusted depending on application requirements. The UL-Listed type FA fuse has an extremely fast action characteristic making it ideal for use in applications where continuity of service is essential. Lastly, the UL-Listed type 15-40 fuse is used for application where very high current protection is needed, such as in large commercial and industrial applications.
The LAD-FA-15-40 fuse has a very simple working principle. It works on the principle of thermal magnetic trip delay. This means that the fuse has a primary delay that is created by the heat gain on the device. This delay allows the current drawn by the circuit to be equalized and the circuit to cool down before the device trips and disconnects. In addition, the magnetism of the fuse plays a part in working principle of the device. As the current drawn by the circuit increases, the magnets in the core of the fuse cause the heat produced by the circuit to increase. This in turn causes the the current drawn by the circuit to be limited, which in turn prevents the circuit from tripping and disconnecting too early. The magnets also reduce the rate of deterioration of the device.
The LAD-FA-15-40 fuse is typically designed to meet the requirements of both UL 4248 and IEEE C37.20. This fuse is of the highest quality and can be used in a wide variety of circuit protection applications. The device offers excellent current limiting characteristics and is extremely reliable. It is also UL recognized, meaning it meets all the necessary safety requirements. The LAD-FA-15-40 fuse is one of the most cost-effective ways to provide circuit protection and is an excellent choice for protecting circuits in industrial, commercial, and residential locations.
