This electric field produces a current that actuates the trip unit and opens the circuit.The trip unit operates on the basis of an adjustable time-current characteristic. This time-current characteristic is adjustable and can be set to activate the circuit breaker according to the required operating characteristics for short-circuit or overload protection.
