LM2575S-ADJ Application Field and Working Principle

The LM2575S-ADJ is a monolithic adjustable switching regulator from Texas Instruments that features high efficiency, low ripple/noise, and low heat dissipation. Working Principle

The LM2575S-ADJ is a feedback-regulated buck converter that converts a single-rail input voltage to a regulated DC output voltage. It uses the principle of Pulse-width Modulation (PWM) to achieve voltage regulation.PWM modulates the duty cycle of the on/off switch. A PWM controller controls the duty cycle by comparing the actual output voltage to the desired voltage set by the user, a process referred to as "closed-loop feedback."When the sensor detects an output voltage that is higher than the desired voltage, the controller reduces the duty cycle of the switch, reducing the amount of energy to the output. Conversely, when the sensor detects an output voltage that is lower than the desired voltage, the controller increases the duty cycle of the switch, increasing the amount of energy to the output.This process allows the LM2575S-ADJ to maintain a regulated voltage. It also has integrated protection functions such as over-voltage protection and current-limit protection to ensure the safe operation of the regulator, even under extreme conditions.
