Working Principle

The LM2576BU is based on a two-stage Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) architecture with a fixed-frequency internally compensated PWM controller. The second stage contains an internal current-sense comparator, a pulse width modulator and an output switching element.

When the input voltage exceeds the reference voltage, the device will enter a discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). In DCM, the device function as a constant-frequency pulse-width-modulated (PWM) switching regulator, with a certain amount of regulation.
