Through hole resistors, or ThHRs, are one of the oldest types of passive electronic components in the electronics industry. They are composed of a core material –usually ceramic– and a layer of resistance material over its surface. ThHRs offer a wide variety of constructions, sizes, shapes, tolerance levels, and power ratings.

In recent years, ThHRs have been substituted by surface mount components, due to the superior performance and cost of modern surface mount parts. Even so, through hole components remain as a viable technology in certain applications, specially where higher power density or higher temperature are involved.One of those applications is the LR1F33K2 resistor.
