The LT1307CS8#TRPBF is a modern DC-DC switching regulator designed to provide cost-effective and efficient power conversion. It is developed by Linear Technology and designed for use in battery-powered systems and other applications. This DC-DC switching regulator is housed in a very small, 8-pin, MSOP package. It provides an integrated, neat and clean solution for small point-of-load requirements. The LT1307CS8#TRPBF is equipped with various features to provide efficient and reliable power conversion. In order to maximize efficiency, it uses Linear Technology\'s proprietary adaptive, on-time™ control scheme and high-frequency power MOSFETs. This feature allows it to achieve a low quiescent current of 1.5mA and a high efficiency of up to 95%. Furthermore, the LT1307CS8#TRPBF is also able to provide adjustable output voltage, allowing the user to set the output voltage to suit the needs of the system. On top of that, its switching frequency can be programmed from 500kHz to 2MHz in order to maximize the device\'s efficiency at any given output voltage.Operation
The LT1307CS8#TRPBF operates with three different parts: the power stage, the control stage, and the feedback section. The power stage is composed of a high-side MOSFET and a low-side MOSFET; the two MOSFETs are combined into an H-bridge enabling bi-directional DC power flow. In a nutshell, the power stage will be putting out positive output voltage if the high-side MOSFET is switched on and the low-side is off. Vice versa, if the high-side MOSFET is off and the low-side is on, the output voltage will be negative. To assure power efficiency, the power stage must switch between its two MOSFETs rapidly. As such, the control stage is used to constantly monitor the power stage and switch the power MOSFETs on/off at a certain duty cycle in order to keep the output voltage stable. Lastly, the feedback section ensures accurate and stable output voltage by detecting the output voltage, comparing it against a reference voltage, and providing the difference back to the control stage in a manner known as closed loop control. Once the output voltage is in the vicinity of the reference voltage rather than a far distance away, the closed loop control scheme is activated, ensuring power efficiency and output accuracy.Application Fields
