Voltage Reference devices are used to maintain an accurate and stable voltage output across a load over a wide range of temperatures, load changes and other varying conditions. One of the most popular Voltage Reference devices is the LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF, which is a 3-terminal output Voltage Reference with a minimum output voltage of 0.8V and a maximum output voltage of 2.5V. The LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF has a wide range of applications, most notably in applications that require a stable and accurate Voltage Reference over a wide range of temperatures, loads and other conditions. Examples of this are the voltage regulation needed in computers, servers, consumer electronics and wireless communications. The LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF can be used in linear-regulator applications such as post-regulator circuits, power-supply sequencing and regulation, and voltage monitoring.

The operating principle of this Voltage Reference is fairly simple - it is configured to maintain a constant output voltage across the load by using two internal adjustable comparators, one for each side of the output voltage. The two comparators work in combination to control the output voltage and ensure that it is maintained at the set Constant Reference Voltage (CRV). This is achieved by monitoring the parts of the output voltage that are outside of the CRV range, and adjusting the parts within range until the output is within the prescribed CRV range.

The LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF also features an integrated analog temperature compensation circuit to provide an accurate temperature coefficient of 0.2 mV/°C. This temperature compensation graciously adds to the stability of the output voltage. Furthermore, the LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF also features a negative voltage option with a wide operating range of -3.3V to -24V. This allows the LT1460HCS3-2.5#TRMPBF to be used in circuits that require negative voltage sources.
