LT1944EMS#PBF Application Field and Working PrincipleLT1944EMS#PBF is a high-voltage switch mode DC/DC converter regulator with serial PMIC voltage regulators and DC-DC switching regulators. It can be used to generate high voltage under very low current sources. The wide input voltage range from 2V to 42V allows convenient implementation of multiple low-voltage, low-power DC/DC power supplies.The LT1944EMS#PBF chip has three integrated regulators: one buck regulator, one boost regulator, and one inverting buck regulator. The buck regulator is designed to provide a regulated voltage at up to 2A. The boost regulator is designed to regulate a floating output voltage while drawing very low current. The inverting buck regulator is designed to generate a low voltage bias.The LT1944EMS#PBF switch regulator employs various topologies to minimize the use of external components and provide high efficiency, low noise, and excellent line regulation. The buck regulator is operated in a non-synchronous buck-boost mode. It operates with an output voltage that can be adjusted between 0.6V and 32V. The boost regulator is operated in a non-synchronous buck-boost as well. It operates with an output voltage that can be adjusted between 3V and 42V.The output voltage of the LT1944EMS#PBF switch regulator varies with input voltage, temperature, clock frequency, maximum duty cycle, SenseFET RDSon, and load current. It also has a number of protections like OVP, OCP, Hiccup (short-circuit protection), Thermal Shutdown, over-temperature protection, under-temperature protection, and soft-start functionality.The LT1944EMS#PBF chip is also capable of providing a power factor correction (PFC) circuitry, which reduces harmonics and increased current efficiency levels.
