Working Principle

The LT3048EDC-5#TRPBF incorporates a precision voltage reference, high accuracy operational amplifier, current limiter, and a DMOS output switch for controlling the output voltage. The circuit operates by using the voltage reference to calibrate an adjustable voltage optocoupler, which is then used to adjust the output voltage to the set point. The current limit is set by adjusting a resistor and, if desired, the current limit can be programmed via a control voltage or an external resistor.

The circuit also includes a thermal monitor and a DMOS output switch with a built-in over-temperature protection. The adaptable control output allows the circuit to be driven by control voltage, temperature voltage, or external resistors. The LT3048EDC-5#TRPBF also features adjustable soft start which is designed to limit the inrush current during startup.
