The LT6556IGN#PBF is an 8-channel, dual-match analog switch product specifically designed for the interface between RF, audio and mixed-signal systems. It features low insertion loss, low crosstalk, low distortion and wide dynamic range. With a wide operating range from VCC = 3.3 V to VPOS = 12 V, the LT6556IGN#PBF is an ideal switching solution for applications requiring a high degree of control, flexibility and cost savings.

The LT6556IGN#PBF is constructed using an advanced monolithic process with integrated CMOS logic, which gives it a high level of performance, reliability and scalability. The device also features dedicated status logic for each switch. The status logic provides switch status information to the application processor for more sophisticated control of the switch matrix.

The LT6556IGN#PBF is designed with switch Matrix architecture, which ensures a simultaneous switching of eight analog channels with one digital control signal. It is designed for low off-level leakage current, low on-state leakage current and low off-state leakage current. It is also designed for high isolation and low crosstalk between industrial, mobile, multimedia and other audio sources.

If the high input power level of a particular signal path is increasing, the LT6556IGN#PBF provides an effective limiter that maintains the signal path’s power level constant. In addition, the device offers a programmable mute function that enables a rapid switch-off and release of the signal path. This ensures there is no audible “pop” when any signal passed through the system is muted or released.

Working principle wise, the LT6556IGN#PBF is controlled using a low-voltage, single-ended CMOS or positive true reference signal. When the signal is an input voltage higher than VCC in state, the incoming signal is gated out. When the signal is below VPOS in state, the signal is allowed in and passes through the switch to the output. Moreover, the device can be operated in three different modes: single, dual and simultaneous. In single mode, the LT6556IGN#PBF allows the signal to pass through only one out of the eight switches. In dual mode, the signal can pass through two switches. And in the simultaneous mode, the signal passes through all the switches simultaneously.

The LT6556IGN#PBF is ideal for applications involving radio frequency (RF) switching and isolation, audio, video and other specialized interfaces. It is ideal for wireless applications requiring low insertion loss and high linearity, such as cell phones and PDAs. In addition, the LT6556IGN#PBF is suitable for RF switching applications requiring high isolation and low crosstalk in order to meet the needs of industrial, medical, consumer, automotive and other applications.
