The LTC-561P is a popularly used LED character and numeric display module which is used for a variety of applications. Logic H indicates that the LED segment should be enabled, while logic L indicates that the LED segment should be disabled. The LED segments are designated A to G (from top to bottom) while the common pins connecting each of the LED segments are designated to be either pin 11or pin 13.

When programming, the user is able to first select several display features. For example, 4-digit or 6-digit display display, enable or disable common segment connection pins, enable or disable multiplex scanning, enable or disable intensity setting, enable or disable power-on reset, and enable or disable blinking speed setting. Once these preferences have been set, the user can then input an 8-bit data package to define the character or number that the user wishes to display, as each character or number corresponds to a specific 8-bit binary command string.

The LTC-561P module is frequently used because of its simple, straightforward programming instructions and its good quality output. The module is able to be powered with a range of DC input voltages ranging from 4.7V to 10.5V and consume a fairly low amount of power.
