:Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) is an essential component in many electronic systems that are used in a wide range of applications. The LTC2630CSC6-LZ10 is a 16-bit, 10-channel, voltage output digital to analog converter (DAC) with a voltage output ranging from 0 to 5.0 V. It is ideal for industrial and automotive applications as well as for test and measurement, data acquisition and other precision applications.
The LTC2630CSC6-LZ10 offers high-precision performance in a small 3 mm x 4 mm QFN package and measures only 2.5 mm in height. It also provides a ½ LSB INL, 0.2 LSB DNL and monotonic accuracy that meets or exceeds industrial, automotive and medical standards for 16-bit and lower-bit performance. Its low power design supports a wide supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, allowing it to be used in a variety of power supply applications.
The onboard non-linearity calibration allows the LTC2630CSC6-LZ10 to achieve a 0.0001% settling time of 2ms to 0.0V or 5.0V. Its programmable reference compare feature reduces external circuitry requirements. This DAC supports Power-On Reset, which clears all DAC registers to 0, and single cycle update mode, which allows for both fast programming of DAC codes and single-step transfer of all DACs within 130µs.
Working PrincipleThe LTC2630CSC6-LZ10 operates using the voltage output method with an internal voltage reference to generate a calibrated output voltage. The digital data stored at the code select port will be accessed and decoded by the DAC\'s hardware module. Once the DAC code is selected, the binary word is passed through the DAC’s internal operational amplifier and presented as an analog voltage at the output.
The internal voltage reference, which provides a nominal 2.048 V, is programmable using an external resistor. The output voltage range is set to the range of the internal voltage reference. The user can match the output voltage range to the expectation by setting resistors appropriately. If a high resolution DAC is needed, the user can select a slower speed voltage reference to achieve a higher accuracy.
The LTC2630CSC6-LZ10 includes a slew rate-limited output amplifier for fast voltage or current updates. It also includes a power-on reset feature that resets the DACs to 0V, as well as an under/over temperature-locked output that prevents the conversion from being affected by temperature changes.
