IntroductionThe LTC2635CMSE-LZ8#PBF is a digitally controlled, high-precision, fixed-output, CMOS, digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It is a part of Analog Devices’ family of CMOS Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs). This DAC supports 8- and 12-bit resolution and is powered by either 3.3 V or 5 V supplies. The LTC2635CMSE-LZ8#PBF provides very high performance in a small footprint. It is optimized for low power (during standby periods) as well as for excellent power-to-performance ratio. This DAC is ideally suited for precision analog control in industrial, commercial and laboratory applications. The device is fully specified over the –40°C to +125°C temperature range which provides it with significant thermal flexibility and reliability.Application FieldsThe LTC2635CMSE-LZ8#PBF is designed to provide precision and by using a 3.3 V or 5 V supply, it can be used in various systems that operate from any of the supplies. The converted digital word is sent to the DAC via the SPI, I2C or 3-wire serial interface. The power supply can also be adjusted to provide a wide range of output voltage ranges. Once the digital word is received, the DAC converts it into an analog voltage by using an internal reference voltage. The reference voltage is generated by a precision, low-drift bandgap reference circuit. The reference voltage is then compared to the digital word, and the difference between the two is output as the analog voltage. The accuracy of the output voltage is determined by the precision of the reference voltage.
