Working Principle

The LTC2635HMSE-LZ12#TRPBF is a series of high-precision, low-power, 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs). It accepts a 12-bit parallel data word along with a 3-bit gain and offset control code to program the output voltage. The gain and offset control code can also be routed to the LDAC input to be programed externally. The output voltage is a function of the gain and offset control code and the 12-bit DAC resolution. The internal reference is trimmed to provide 1 LSB accuracy over the temperature range. The output voltage can swing between the reference voltage and 0V in unipolar mode, between +VREF and -VREF in bipolar mode, and between 2 x VREF and 0V in unipolar current mode.

The LTC2635HMSE-LZ12#TRPBF has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making it an ideal choice for many portable applications. The low quiescent current of 10 mW at 25°C eliminates the need for a heat sink or large capacitors. Furthermore, the integrated 2.5V reference option provides additional accuracy over the temperature range.

The LTC2635HMSE-LZ12#TRPBF features a 2MHz serial interface with LDAC (Load DAC) function. LDAC is an asynchronous input that allows the DAC register to be updated with new data from the serial interface without adjusting its output. The LDAC input can be used in applications that require simultaneous programming of multiple DAC devices.
