LTC2636CDE-LZ10#PBF is a 10-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for precision voltage output applications. It is available in the 8-lead MSOP package, and reduce board space significantly. It runs on single 5V power supply and is characterized for operation from –40℃ to125℃. It can provide 10-bit accuracy, settling time to 15µs, and output current drive up to 20mA.

Working principle

The LTC2636CDE-LZ10#PBF integrates an output amplifier, voltage reference, power supply filter and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) into a single monolithic device. When a high level logic signal is applied to the clock input, the digital data contained in the data lines will be used to update the voltage output.

To update the DAC value, the DAC clock pin should be toggled from low to high state. The data register contains the 10-bit value of the DAC output for the CH0-CH3. The DAC output voltage is determined by the following equation.

Vout = (A) × (DAC word/1023) + (B), where A is the full-scale span and B is the offset voltage.

A and B are factory setup according to the full scale voltage option and gain errors and these values are stored in an internal EEPROM. The output current of LTC2636CDE-LZ10#PBF can be up to 20mA and 0 to 1023 codes are programmable in the DAC data register, making it suitable for digital control systems.
