LTC2641IMS8-14#PBF is an 8-bit resolution, multiplying digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with reference current output. It belongs to the family of data acquisition – digital to analog converters (DAC). The DAC integrates numerous features, such as an on-chip reference, programmable gain amplifier, an output amplifier, temperature drift compensation and offset system – all in a tiny 4 mm × 4 mm LFCSP (leadless form-factor conventionally-specified package).

As a high resolution DAC, the LTC2641IMS8-14#PBF has a resolution of 8-bits and a 2.5V internal reference. The 8-bit DAC uses a multibit architecture to ensure monotonic and specified performance without any fine adjustment during production testing. The DNL (differential non-linearity) is guaranteed to be no more than ±1LSB (+1/-1 Least Significant Bit). The full-scale code is 256LSB and can be programmed with the I2C compatible interface or by a one-time configuration command.

The on-chip reference current source provides up to +/- 265uA of reference current. This current can be programmed to 25 lsb/uA resolution. The output amplifier can be programmed in two modes: a Hi-Z mode that produces 8X gain and a low-impedance mode that produces 15X gain. The output can be programmed directly to the DAC codes or referred to ranging, which allows the output voltage to be set to any fraction of the reference voltage.

The LTC2641IMS8-14#PBF also features an offset system that allows users to correct any errors caused by the DAC drift with temperature by dynamically adjusting the output after each command. The offset registers can store up to 8 settings and can be configured as an integral or differential offset correction. The offset registers are used in combination with the non-volatile memory (NVM) to allow the settings to be recalled at power-up or at anytime during operation.
