The LTC2668IUJ-12#TRPBF is a low power 8-bit voltage output DAC with an integrated resistor ladder. The devices provide output range of 0V to 10V with 16-pin and 20-pin SSOP packaging. The device select the operating and non-operating temperature range options are offered in the –40°C to 105°C and –40°C to 125°C range. It has a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply and includes an on-chip 0.5% accurate reference. The device is used in various applications such as aircraft simulators, medical imaging, benchtop instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, PCM telephones and base stations, touchscreen displays and industrial control systems.
The LTC2668IUJ-12#TRPBF DAC has a wide range of features. It has a sequential up/down multiple index operation along with selectable power-up/down to system default state and power-up to zero adjustment of operation. It has power mode control, which is used to reduce power consumption. It has a Receive/Transmit state pin, which is used to enable/disable the output enable pin. The LTC2668IUJ-12#TRPBF device has three different operation modes: single, multiple and continuous index. In single index operation, the input codes are accepted one at a time and stored in a latch before they are converted. The device output is updated to the stored code once the write command is issued. In multiple index operation, multiple input codes are accepted at the same time and stored in registers. Once the write command is issued, the device output is updated. In continuous index operation, data constantly flows from the input registers to the output registers and the device output is continuously updated.
The LTC2668IUJ-12#TRPBF also features power mode control, which can be used to reduce the total operating current in the system. There are three power operating modes: Normal, Sleep and Shutdown. In Normal mode all the features are enabled and the output is active. In Sleep mode, the output is disabled and the DAC is in low power state, consuming less than 10µA in quiescent state. In Shutdown mode, all functions are disabled, and the DAC is powered down.
The DAC also includes an on-chip voltage reference, which is accurate to 0.5%. The reference is buffered and can be used as a reference input to the DAC or as a reference source to external buffers. The device also has a receiver/transmit pin, which is used to enable/disable the output enable pin. The device can be programmed via the two-wire serial interface, giving the user full control over the DAC settings.
