The LTC2870IUFD#PBF (LTC2870IUFD) is an integrated interface and driver/receiver/transceiver developed by Linear Technology Corporation. It is an ultra-low-power, integrated driver with exceptionally flexible design which includes a voltage-programmable clamping protection circuit. Its primary application fields are networking, mobile telephones and network control systems.
The LTC2870IUFD provides multi-channel, multi-mode communication interface with integrated driver, receiver and transceiver sections. The driver section includes a programmable gain amplifier and a voltage clamping protection circuit. The receiver section includes a differential amplifier, with an adjustable gain, and a low noise differential input selector switch. The transceiver section includes two separate differential outputs for either full-duplex communication or two-wire half-duplex communication.
The LTC2870IUFD is designed to accommodate a variety of different protocol standards such as IEEE 802.11a,b,g wireless LANs, Bluetooth, 802.11n, and non-standards like ZigBee. It has an integrated antenna port and is compliant with the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n standard for wireless LANs. The device\'s integrated switch-mode power supply allows the device to operate with a very low power supply voltage.
The working principle of the LTC2870IUFD is based upon a wideband programmable amplifier with multiple gain settings and an adjustable voltage-clamping protection circuit. The wideband amplifier is capable of delivering output signals up to −50 dBm over a range of frequencies from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz. The amplifier also features adjustable gain settings, noise reduction, low distortion, and a wideband tuning range. The adjustable voltage-clamping protection circuit ensures that the output voltage across any of the output lines of the device never exceeds a predefined level. This prevents damage to the device and other connected devices in the event of unexpected overcurrent or voltage spikes.
The LTC2870IUFD also has several other advanced features, including error correction, CRC checks, and auto-negotiation of bus parameters. It also integrates an internal measurement system with an internal timer, which allows it to perform statistical measurements and calculations. This enables the device to accurately predict the power level in the device, as well as to detect and report errors in data transmission. This reduces power consumption and increases system reliability.
