The LTC3115IFE-1#PBF is a member of the PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators family, which is able to provide high-performance, low-noise, and high-efficiency, cost-effective solutions for a variety of applications. It is a single-output integrated switching regulator that utilizes synchronous step-down (buck) topology and an interleaved mode control method. The LTC3115IFE-1#PBF is able to provide a high efficiency power conversion solution with a wide input voltage range of 2.5V to 24V, and is able to generate up to 3A of continuous output current while operating at up to 2MHz of switching frequency.

The main applications of LTC3115IFE-1#PBF include high-end permanent magnet brushless (BLDC) fans, hand-held medical devices, portable equipment, base station transmitters and receivers, power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications, as well as automotive and industrial equipment. Furthermore, it features low operating quiescent current, adjustable output voltage and precise dynamic control loop stabilization.

The working principle of the LTC3115IFE-1#PBF is based on the input voltage being fed to the switching regulator, which contains a voltage reference, error amplifier, level-shift drivers, modulation logic, and a number of secondary components including an output diode and transformer. The error amplifier compares the input voltage to the reference voltage and adjusts the duty cycle of the main switch accordingly. The duty cycle is then used to control the output voltage of the regulator to a desired level.

The LTC3115IFE-1#PBF integrates switching regulators, interleaved synchronous controllers, active clamp reset, and an I2C interface. The device features a low power quiescent operating current, as well as a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. In addition, it uses an active clamp reset circuitry for fast output voltage transients and lower output voltage undershoot.
