Overview

The LTC3611EWP#PBF is a high-efficiency, monolithic, synchronous step-down switching regulator that uses an external N-channel MOSFET and internal compensation circuitry to provide a fast and low-noise transient response. The LTC3611EWP#PBF operates from a wide input voltage range of 2.5V to 28V and can deliver up to 3A of continuous output current. Working Principle

The switching regulator consists of two main components, an external N-channel power MOSFET and an internal compensation circuit. The LTC3611EWP#PBF regulates the output voltage by switching the external MOSFET at a fixed frequency and it maintains continuous conduction mode (CCM).The working principle of the switching regulator is quite simple. When the switch is turned on (not in the diagram), the inductor current begins to increase and it holds the switch until current reaches pre-determined peak current. Then, the switch turns off and charge is delivered to the output capacitor through the diode while inductor current continues to decrease. As the inductor current reaches zero, the internal compensation circuit resets the cycle and turns the switch again on.
