The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter from Linear Technology. This integrated circuit provides a complete power solution for a wide variety of market applications including automotive, industrial, medical, telecommunications and consumer products. The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF is a PMIC (Power Management IC) voltage regulator specifically designed for DC-DC switching regulators. The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter that offers a high output accuracy of ±1% and a wide input voltage range to eliminate the need for a variety of converters. It also features a low output ripple, fast response time and a low power mode to provide power savings.The circuit provides simple, synchronous, step-down voltage regulation with an adjustable output voltage-range of 0.6V to 5.25V. The converter utilizes low on resistance synchronous power MOSFETs, with an adjustable external soft-start for fast wake up and integrated loop-compensation for fast transient response. The synchronous design allows for reduced external component requirements, small size and low external component output cost. The initial output voltage is preset with a resistor divider from the output voltage. The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF features an output voltage trim pin which can be used to adjust the output voltage over the entire range.The maximum output current can be up to 6A, while the maximum input voltage can be up to 24V. The device is available in a 10 pin MSOP H-grade package with an industrial grade temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The application of the DC/DC switch regulator LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF includes automotive systems, battery backup systems, medical instrumentation, storage devices, server systems, chargers, and other precision products in the industrial and medical markets. To conduct the output power conversion efficiently, the LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF utilizes a synchronous buck-boost converter. A buck-boost converter consists of two power switches and two diodes that alternate between a buck, boost and charger mode, enabling high efficiency power conversion over a wide range of input and output voltage conditions. When the converter is operating in the buck mode, the input voltage is greater than the output voltage and an N-channel MOSFET is used to connect the input voltage to the output voltage through a low loss path. When the converter is operating in the boost mode, the input voltage is less than the output voltage and a P-channel MOSFET is used to connect the input voltage to the output voltage. This ensures efficient voltage conversion over a wide range using the same integrated circuit. Also, the frequency of the buck-boost converter can be adjusted to achieve the desired power conversion efficiency. For example, a higher switching frequency reduces conduction losses and increases efficiency. Furthermore, the LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF also includes over-current protection, reverse current protection, and over-temperature protection, making the device suitable for a wide range of applications. The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF also includes a proprietary Multi-Loop architecture to ensure a fast and accurate response time to rapidly changing load conditions. The Multi-Loop architecture uses an adaptive voltage positioning (AVP) architecture, which is implemented with a low bandwidth outer control loop and tight inner loop control loop. The AVP architecture effectively compensates for variations in input voltage and line impedance to ensure a stable output voltage, while the outer loop ensures fast transient response times. The LTC3626EUDC#TRPBF also features programmable current limit protection, temperature and line regulation, as well as an adjustable soft start control which enables a gradual increase in the output voltage to minimize output voltage overshoot. Additionally, the device includes a power mute function which can disconnect the output from the load and quickly reduce current consumption during power-down conditions.
