The LTC4355IS#TRPBF integrated circuit (IC) is a highly cost-effective and space-saving surface mount device and belongs to the power management integrated circuit (PMIC) - OR controllers, ideal diodes category. It enables engineers to build highly reliable and low power consuming systems. This IC provides a dual MOSFET control output as well as negation of hot or neutral circuits. Additionally, it possesses a control voltage monitor functionality and fault logic output. The LTC4355IS#TRPBF is available in a 5-pin small outline surface mount package.
The key feature of the LTC4355IS#TRPBF includes wide operating voltage range between 4.5 V and 36 V, control voltage range from 0 V to 10 V and robust surge withstand capability up to 1 A. It also features a 2 mA quiescent current with ON/OFF enable control, gate driver circuit, integrated reverse battery protection, double-pole dual-throw (DPDT) switches, conduction mode and fault logic. Moreover, the reset output (to open the switches and achieve full OFF state) and programmable over-voltage protection are also present. Additionally, this IC contains a 1 amp MOSFET and a 2 amp MOSFET switch that are suitable for switching lower-current hardware. The output power pins of the IC are connected to the respective RPH and MOSFETs for instant automatic protection.
The working principle of the LTC4355IS#TRPBF IC is based on a dual MOSFET control output, a control voltage monitor functionality and fault logic. The control voltage monitor functionality monitors the controlled current and provides a feedback either via a mechanical contact closure or a remote sensing method such as sensing a voltage across a resistor. If there is an over-voltage or over-current condition, the control voltage monitor will shut down the system, preventing further damage or harm being caused. The fault logic monitors the status of the IC and outputs a logic signal indicating the fault condition. Furthermore, reset logic is present which is used to activate the reset pin to open the installed switches and achieve a full OFF state.
The LTC4355IS#TRPBF IC is widely applicable in power management and hot-swapping. It features a low sink current, enhanced surge withstand capability, improved safety and reliability, increased control voltage range and provides over-voltage protection. Moreover, it is compatible with battery-powered systems, motor control, low temperature operation and high efficiency systems. The operating temperature range of this IC is from –40°C to 85°C.
