RF mixers are electronic components, or circuits, used in radio-frequency (RF) electronic communication systems. They simultaneously satisfy the requirements of frequency conversion, impedance matching, and power combining. RF mixers also provide isolation between the transmitting and receiving antennas, and, thus, serve to prevent the signals from interfering with each other. The LTC5567IUF is a multi-mode phased array antenna mixer which can be used in a wide variety of applications, particularly those involving 5G mmWave technology.The LTC5567IUF mixer combines a 240 GHz low-noise amplifier, a 5.8GHz-3GHz channel down-conversion mixer, and a low insertion loss filter into a single fractional-N PLL based synchronous down conversion solution. This allows the user to mix multiple RF channels at programmable gain settings to achieve optimal dynamic range. The device also features a high dynamic range, low intermodulation distortion and high linearity, making it suitable for use in a variety of 5G mmWave applications.One application of the LTC5567IUF mixer is in 5G mmWave phased array antenna arrays. Phased array antennas are used to transmit or receive radio signals in a particular direction by combining the output from multiple individual antennae.
