The LTC6804IG-1#PBF is an application device in the field of power management and battery management. This device is a current and voltage monitoring device, widely used in consumer electronics, charging, communications products and portable industrial applications. The working principle of the LTC6804IG-1#PBF has two components. Firstly, the analog part is responsible for measuring the cell voltage and the temperature with individual Cell Voltage Monitors(CVM). The accuracy of these monitors is 0.1mV and an external temperature monitor (NTC) is used for temperature sensing. Then, the measured analog data are converted into digital form with 12bit Delta—Sigma A/D converters and sent to the IC data register through an SUC interface.
The second component is a digital part which is responsible for data processing, interpreting, and debugging. It contains a 16bit microcontroller which collects the data from CVM, NTC and analog front-end and makes the required computation to determine the necessary parameters. Based on these parameters, the microcontroller issues commands to initiate writing, reading, and transmitting of the data.
The LTC6804IG-1#PBF includes several advanced features such as low Voltage Disconnect (LVD), Over/Under Voltage Protection (U/OVP),Precision open cell monitoring (OCM),Over temperature Protection (OTP) and Data logging. The device can also be configured to have up to 8 cell balancing ports to help balance the cells. All these features are necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the device.
Additionally, battery pack diagnostic features are also supported in the LTC6804IG-1#PBF, such as cell voltage measurement accuracy, open-cell detection accuracy, otp/ovp thresholds, and average/peak cell voltage measurement accuracy. This device has impressive accuracy when measuring the cell voltage, both peak and average.
