The LTM4600HVEV#PBF is a DC-DC converters used to convert a high input voltage to lower output voltage. It is an efficient one-dimensional converter with high-precision feedback voltage regulation, high-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM), and low spurious output noise. This converter offers a wide input voltage range of 4.5-35 V and offers fast transient response with tight load and line regulation. Its output voltages are adjustable from 0.8 to VIN (as long as it does not exceed the maximum output voltage). The LTM4600HVEV#PBF has an integral soft start which allows for a smooth start-up that can be adjusted from 1-25 ms. The LTM4600HVEV#PBF is popular for use in broadcast systems, medical equipment, and switch-mode power supplies thanks to its wide input voltage range, exceptional reliability, and wide temperature range. This DC-DC converter offers a wide variety of current levels to meet different power demands ranging from 10mA to 10A. Utilizing FET-based switched-mode methodologies, this converter offers an industry-leading efficiency of up to 98%. The principle of operation of the LTM4600HVEV#PBF is based on the switched-mode power supply (SMPS) technique. This technique works by converting an input voltage to a lower output voltage by switching the input voltage very quickly to generate a pulse-width modulated output waveform. This method is highly efficient as it requires very little energy to convert the voltage since it does not have to pass through transformers, rectifiers, or linear voltage regulators. The LTM4600HVEV#PBF contains a controller IC and an external power MOSFET that helps to activate the switching process. The controller IC will regulate the voltage by receiving a signal from the sense resistor which measures the voltage at the output of the converter. The controller IC will then adjust the duty cycle of the output waveform to obtain the desired output voltage.
