LTM4606IY#PBF is a dual-output high-efficiency monolithic synchronous DC-DC μModule Converter. It integrates the functions of two independent high-efficiency synchronous Buck regulators which provides a very efficient, versatile and cost effective power solutions. The integrated features such as wide Vin range, input disconnect, voltage tracking, and PowerGood output signal enable embedded systems to configure the IC from as little as to 3.3V to as high as 16V ration and from 0.5V to 12V output. On the other hand, the short-to-ground internal current fold back ensures the operating point remains steady even with open-load or short-circuit conditions. Below the detailed application field and working principle will be explored.
Application Field:The LTM4606IY#PBF is featured with its wide input voltage range, from 2.9V to 16V, that allowing it for a wide range of applications. The low voltage high current module is optimized for automotive application under the powertrain, instrument cluster, and body control modules. In addition, industrial applications with wide input range, such as intelligent illumination, server, power supply, telecom/datacom and other related system, are using the high efficiency and large power rates of this DC-DC converter module.
Working Principle:The monolithic LTM4606IY#PBF includes 2 independent synchronous buck regulators, which convert a wide input voltage range into a regulated output voltage. All the integrated power MOSFET ensures smaller size and light weight. During the operation of each synchronous buck, it only needs the feedback voltage from the external components. The external compensation network and feedback resistors are used to determine the operating frequency, the peak current limit and the conversion ratio of the output voltage VS the input voltage. The characteristic of the compensator network allows the LTM4606IY#PBF to respond quickly to the load conditions and provides system stability.
The LTM4606IY#PBF is designed to operate at very high efficiency, both at light load and heavy load. The high efficiency is achieved by the use of internal synchronous switch with low forward voltage. In addition, low quiescent current mode and stand by short-to-ground current fold-back mode ensures low power consumption too. Furthermore, this DC-DC converter module also features circuit protection, such as over-temperature protection, under-voltage lockout, over-current protection and adaptive dead time control.
