The LTV-824 optoisolator is a single channel device, with a 40 Volt P emitter output transistor and requires a 4V drive voltage.

The LTV-824 optoisolator is suitable for applications such as sensor signal transmission, pulse amplifier isolation and input signal measurement for analog-to-digital converters. It is also used for ground loop correction, isolation in mixed signal systems, and communication signal transmission. It is available in through-hole as well as surface mount package types.

The working principle of the LTV-824 optoisolator involves the use of an infrared LED and a phototransistor, which are separated by a 6mm air gap and sealed in a compact white package. The infrared LED emits infrared light when current is passed through it, which is detected by the phototransistor and is then amplified through the transistor output. The transistor output drives a load circuit, which is responsible for performing the necessary functions.

The optoisolator isolates the two circuits from each other by means of the internal gap, eliminating any contact between the source and the load circuits.
