The LTV-824S is an optoisolator part from Lite-On Inc. It is part of the Optoisolators – Transistor, Photovoltaic Output family and is designed to provide electrical isolation between two circuits while transferring information between the two. The optoisolator separates the two circuits through the use of a photosensitive device coupled with a light-emitting diode (LED) and a transistor switch. The LTV-824S can switch up to 200mA at up to 35VDC, can be triggered with input currents as low as 1.0mA and can switch frequencies up to 100kHz. It offers an insulation resistance of up to 2200VRMS and a creepage distance of up to 9mm.

The optoisolator has a dual-in-line package (DIP) design and can handle ambient temperatures of -40° to +85°C. It is rated for the UL, CSA and VDE safety standards with a guaranteed voltage of up to 66V and a surge voltage of up to 200V. The LTV-824S also features a wide operating voltage range of 5-40VDC. It can be used in both switching and linear applications and is available in two versions—with and without a phototransistor output. The optoisolator also features a low power requirement and high noise immunity.
