Optoisolator is an electronic device which electrically isolates signals by converting them into light energy. One of the popular optoisolators is LTV-825M. It features a built-in efficient Bidirectional Transistor, Photovoltaic Output with a wide range of input voltages.
The application field of LTV-825M covers the transmission of signals across isolated circuits with a wide range of input and output load currents. It is called dual-channel optoisolator which makes it possible to transmit multiple signals simultaneously and each has independent current limit functions. Moreover, its superior isolation voltage between input/output makes it suitable for critical applications in the areas of industrial and laboratory instrumentation, medical equipment, power supplies, etc.
The working principle of LTV-825M optoisolator is pretty simple and straightforward and works on the basis of two main components; the visible light LED (emitter) and the photo detector (receiver). For signal transmission, firstly the circuit creates electrical pulses, which are sent to the emitter in the optoisolator. This emitter then transforms this electrical pulse into optical pulses of visible light. This optical pulse travels through non-conductive isolation barrier and eventually reaches the receiver which converts this optical pulse back into electrical signals.
Then this electrical signal comes out of the receiver and is sent to other circuit components through power, logic and sensing architectures. This process happens very quickly as the photons move at the speed of light through the non-conductive medium. This amplifies the signal strength produced at the output, thus making the optoisolator suitable for long distances applications.
In short, LTV-825M is an ideal optoisolator which provides efficient signal transmission between two isolated circuits with a wide range of input and output load currents. Its wide application field and fast- operating time make it suitable for many areas including industrial and laboratory instrumentation, medical equipment, power supplies and many more.
