LXS 6-NPS is a versatile current transducer with the capability to sense simultaneously two independent AC current signals and their complementary low frequency DC signal. It is designed to be used in a multitude of electrical power applications including sensing of power line current, instrumentation, current monitoring, ground fault detection, and other on-line industrial applications.

The LXS 6-NPS consists of two separate sensing cores connected in series around the coil providing the two independent sensing channels. The first sensing core senses the primary AC current signal while the second sensing core senses a complementary low frequency DC signal that can be energized through the coil pair by both the primary AC current signal and a second secondary DC current signal. This low frequency DC signal is used to activate various protective devices such as overload control relays and ground fault indicators.

The sensing core utilizes an advanced Hall effect technology combined with a high impedance input to ensure highly accurate measurements. Since the cores operate independently, the input current range can be accurately monitored. In addition, the wide input current capability of LXS 6-NPS enables operation in a variety of applications from single phase to three-phase AC systems. The LXS 6-NPS is capable of detecting both AC and DC current signals through the sensing cores providing an extremely versatile device that can be used in a wide range of applications.
