M-8870-02 Application Field and Working Principle

The M-8870-02 is a universal, advanced telephone line interface device designed for applications such as multi-line telephone answering machines, voice messaging systems, computer control of telephone switching, remote line monitoring, and automated attendant systems. It is an interface technology made up of a series of line interface circuits, designed to interface a variety of local and network analog telecommunication networks to equipment using digital processing technologies such as PC’s and microcontrollers.

This device utilizes a Dialed Digit Detection (DDD) scheme of operation. When configured and operated correctly, the M-8870-02 allows access to line based services such as Call Forwarding, Voice Mail, and Caller ID, as well as transmit multiple voice channels over the same line.
