M-987-2A1K is a multipurpose modem developed by Nortel Networks specifically for transmission and communication applications. This is considered one of the most popular high-performance, entry-level modems for both the North American and Asian markets. It is a 2-wire, 2-tone analog modem which has a range of features, including high speed data, VoIP radio, Fax, and Voice.
The M-987-2A1K operates using the ASTM C11x standard, which is the widely accepted system for digital and analog communication over telephone lines. The modem operates in both the Transparent and Non-Transparent modes. In Transparent mode, the modem can transmit and receive data and voice simultaneously, up to 56kbps for data, 16kHz for voice, and 2.4kHz for fax.
