M3BBA-3420K

The M3BBA-3420K Rectangular Connector is a standard low insertion force, quick-connect, threaded, miniature size connector that offers reliable performance for high speed digital signal applications. It is approved for use in both commercial and medical applications and is compliant with NASA EEE parts selection list, RFI, EMI, FCC and CE requirements. This connector is designed for applications where space is at a premium and requires less than 1.7 mm of spacing between contacts.

A number of straight and right-angle plug and receptacle types are available in a variety of wire sizes. The M3BBA-3420K is a dual row connector assembly with four solder ports. It has a mounting depth of 0.093 inches and a contact current rating of five (5) amps per cable. The contact resistance is 0.015 ohms max. Its rated operational temperature range is -20°C to +85°C.

The M3BBA-3420K is designed for high-speed digital signal applications, including Ethernet, USB, DVI and HDMI. It provides excellent EMI/RFI shielding, minimal crosstalk, excellent shielded termination and superior ground shield integrity. The insulated crimp contacts allow this product to be used for wire-to-board and wire-to-wire applications. It is designed to minimize insertion force when mated and disconnected.

The M3BBA-3420K features an internal polarization that keeps the two halves from mismating. The 4-conductor cable assemblies are twisted-pair and lapped-over jacketed assemblies with twisted pairs with drain wire, providing improved flex cycles and strain relief. The cable assemblies are RoHS compliant and UL listed.

The working principle of the M3BBA-3420K is simple. Once the two halves of the connector are mated, the contacts form an electrical connection that allows data to flow through the cable assembly. The contacts allow the connector to power up the device it is connected to. When the two halves are disconnected, the contact points separate, breaking the electrical connection and powering down the device.
