1. Describe

Lattice’s ispMACH™ 4A series provides an exceptionally flexible architecture and an excellent complex programmable logic device (CPLD) solution composed of easy-to-use silicon products and software tools. The overall benefits for users are guaranteed and predictable CPLD solutions, faster time to market, greater flexibility and lower costs. The ispMACH 4A device provides a density of 32 to 512 macrocells, with 100% utilization and 100% pin retention. The ispMACH 4A series provides 5-V (M4A5-xxx) and 3.3-V (M4A3-xxx) operations. The ispMACH 4A product can be programmed in a 5V or 3.3V system through the JTAG (IEEE standard 1149.1) interface. JTAG boundary scan testing also allows product testing on automatic test equipment to achieve device connectivity. All members of the ispMACH 4A series can provide one-time installation and easy system integration after any design changes and modifications, and retain pin outputs. For 3.3-V and 5-V operation, ispMACH 4A products can provide the fastest 5.0 ns tPD and 182 MHz fCNT guaranteed fixed timing through the SpeedLocking function, and each output uses up to 20 product terms.

3. Function Description

The basic architecture of the ispMACH 4A device consists of multiple optimized PAL® Blocks interconnected by a central switching matrix. The central switch matrix allows PAL block and route input to PAL block. PAL block and central switch matrix together allow Logic designers create large designs in a single device without having to use multiple devices.
