MAF94044

RF antennas are used in the broadcast, receive, and transfer electromagnetic signals. MAF94044 is a broadband reflecting antenna, which helps to increase the signal coverage during radio frequency communications. This paper discusses the application field and working principle of the MAF94044.

The MAF94044 is mainly used in communication base station, radio navigation, MET radar, civil aviation radar, fire control radar and other communication fields. The antenna provides an approximate gain of 6.2dBi, which further improves the directivity of the signal. The S-parameter measurements are within +/-3.1dbm, which is highly specific in many communication and radar systems.

The antenna cover a wide frequency range of 510MHz-2.6GHz with an impedance of 50 ohms, while keeping an acceptable SWR within 1.6:1. Its feeder is able to force a single polarization to the electromagnetic wave, thus resulting in a more uniform power distribution. The isolator in the feeder further suppresses the interference between the antenna side lobe and adjacent channels, thereby ensuring that no excess power is needed by the system.

The MAF94044 consists of two components: the antenna and the feeder. The antenna uses the reflecting metallization principle to create a unidirectional lobe pattern in the far-field by using multi-faceted reflectors. The dimensions of the reflectors were designed to create a symmetrical pattern, which ensures that most of the power is being transmitted in the desired direction. The reflectors are designed to act as optical reflectors to direct radiation in the desired direction.

The feeder consists of a circulator, directional coupler, power splitter, amplifier, and isolator. The circulator keeps the antenna\'s signals out of its own side lobe, while the directional coupler ensures that the antenna feed is correct. The power splitter divides the antenna power into two separate channels, while the amplifier boosts the power as it enters the antenna. Lastly, the isolator suppresses the interference between the antenna side lobe and adjacent channels.

The MAF94044 is a broadband reflecting antenna well suited for medium and long range communication systems. It’s design allows it to shape the power distribution of the electromagnetic wave in a desired direction with a wide frequency range and good SWR.
