Working Principle

Maxim Integrated Products\' MAX4815ETE+T switch is based on the use of a power MOSFET. The switch uses a Gate to control the flow of current from the Source to the Drain. The switch is designed to turn on when the Gate voltage is higher than the Source voltage, and to turn off when the Gate voltage is lower than the Source voltage. When the switch is in the ON position, the Gate is connected to the high voltage rail (VH) which is always greater than the Source voltage; when the switch is in the OFF position, the Gate is connected to the low voltage rail (VSS) which is always lower than the Source voltage. This allows the switch to effectively control the flow of high-side-to-high-side voltage signals through the switch at any given time.
