The MAX4820ETP+T is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that features a low-current and low-power switch, load driver, and advanced power-up/power-down control circuitry. It is designed to support inter-node communication, high-speed arbitration, and distributed power management in a variety of applications. The device is ideal for applications that require low-power control, high-speed switching, active or standby control, or distributed system power-down and power-up control.

The MAX4820ETP+T incorporates two independent low-current, low-power switching transistors, three advanced power-up and power-down control peripherals (pushbutton, sequencer, and switching regulator switch matrix support), one push-pull load driver, and an integrated active power-down (APD) feature. The load driver can be enabled or disabled with a low-power logic control input. The device also includes three programmable power-up control peripherals and provides a push-button input as an alternative to the other two programmable power-up circuits. All three power-up control peripherals are triggered by a low-power logic signal, providing a simple and reliable solution for applications that require limited power-up control.

The MAX4820ETP+T is designed to reliably switch very low-current and low-power digital signals. The device features two separate low-current, low-power switches that can be independently or simultaneously enabled to allow the system to quickly and conveniently arbitrate between two separate and distinct power sources. The two switches can also be used to control node-to-node communication, power-up sequencing, or inter-node communication reset. The two switches can be independently enabled in active or standby mode, or disabled with a logic control input.

The device features a push-pull load driver with H-bridge configuration, which allows it to drive a high-current load in either direction with low power. The load driver can be enabled and disabled independently from the two switches, allowing the device to simultaneously control switching and load driving functions. In addition, the load driver can be used to drive other motor control circuits such as relay drivers, level shifters, and motor controllers.

MAX4820ETP+T also includes advanced power-up and power-down control peripherals. The power-up circuits provide for either a pre-defined or user-programmable power-up sequence, as well as a push-button start feature. The device also features an Integrated active power-down (APD) feature which can be used to efficiently minimize current draw during system sleep mode. The APD feature can also be used in systems that require long-term power-down while ensuring the highest possible power efficiency.
