MAX606EVKIT is an evaluation board designed for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) applications. It has been designed as a complete reference design that enables fast evaluation and development of a wide range of AC/DC and DC/DC applications.The MAX606EVKIT includes a high frequency power-supply switching regulator (MAX606) with low parts-count, wide input voltage range, and high-efficiency design. This evaluation platform is an excellent showcase for front-end designs, providing ample opportunities for optimization and research.Maxim\'s MAX606 is a 7-A peak, step-down, DC/DC converter that provides a low parts-count and low operating current. It is designed for applications such as personal communications, battery-powered systems, PDA, PCMCIA, and automotive applications. With a wide input voltage range of 3.3V to 36V, it allows for easy operation in both higher and lower-voltage systems. Additionally, the MAX606 utilizes Enhanced Mode, a proprietary switching algorithm, allowing for improved efficiency and reliability.The design of the MAX606EVKIT offers efficient power-supply operation, allowing the user to optimize components and reduce the system\'s demand for power. With the design using only two inductors, six ceramic capacitors, and no power transistors, the board has been designed with the lowest parts-count and offers an efficient power-supply solution. To provide optimal performance, the board includes external compensation of the loop control and a separate PCB for the external components. Also, a wide variety of user-programmable options are available such as output voltage, rise and/or fall times, oscillator frequency, soft start limit, and current limit.Moreover, the MAX606EVKIT includes a comprehensive software package that utilizes the company\'s MAX+Plus II™ software, used for programming the MAX606\'s control registers, as well as for graphical waveform display. The software also allows for board measurement of key device parameters such as forward voltage, frequency, and output voltage ripple. The software also enables network analysis, allowing the user to interact with the board while in full operation.Thanks to its design, the MAX606EVKIT provides a platform to facilitate the development of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. As a complete evaluation platform, the board enables users to obtain real-time analysis and efficient power-supply operation, making it ideal for developing robust, fault-tolerant, and efficient power-supply solutions.
