Working Principle

Also included on chip are a power switch, a low dropout linear regulator, an integrated power-on reset circuit, POR Delay control and a shutdown input. The device operates in buck topology with a fixed 5V output. The USB adapter AC input is within a 0.73V to 7V range, while the battery input is 1V to 6V, depending upon the user choice of battery. The MAX619CPA+ can supply up to 2A of output with an optimal efficiency of up to 88%, and is capable of operating at up to 2 MHz.

It has onboard soft-start, under-voltage lockout, thermal foldback, an internal power-on reset and a logic controlled shutdown.
