Introduction
The MAX6325CPA+ is a low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator, designed to minimize output voltage ripple and offer good transient response. Using a wide input-voltage range, it can be used in a variety of applications, from point-of-load regulation to switching-mode-power-supply (SMPS) regulation. The MAX6325CPA+ is offered in a tiny, low-profile, SOT-23-5 package and is available in both adjustable and fixed output-voltage versions. Work Principle
The MAX6325CPA+ can be used with both an adjustable output voltage and a fixed output voltage. The adjustable model is available in a range of 2.5V to 6.0V, with 0.01V increments. The device can be set to a range of output voltages via an external resistor divider network. In the fixed versions, the output voltage is determined by the voltage rating of the series transistor (Tx).
The voltage regulator uses a series transistor to achieve its low-dropout performance. The N-channel series transistor (Tx) is connected between the output and the PVIN pin, which is the input to the internal error amplifier\'s non-inverting input. The error amplifier adjusts the current going through Tx, based on the voltage of the output and PVIN pins, so as to maintain a constant output voltage.
The MAX6325CPA+ also includes an adjustable reset circuit, which enables the device to be used for output reset applications. The reset circuit generates an output reset signal whenever the output voltage drops below the set threshold (the adjustable threshold is set via an external voltage divider). This circuit is also used for overvoltage protection, when the device is configured for an adjustable output voltage.
