MAX6975ATL+ is a PMIC - LED Drivers chip for lighting applications that are part of the MAX6975 family. This device is intended to provide the current and voltage regulation necessary to effectively drive strings of LEDs in lighting applications. It is designed using a high-frequency DC-DC converter topology and works in both buck and boost modes to deliver the desired output current and voltage to the LED string. The MAX6975ATL+ also features configurable dimming and fault monitoring capabilities, as well as dimming control via PWM or analog inputs.

The MAX6975ATL+ simplifies the design of a single string or linear array of LEDs by eliminating the need for additional current and voltage regulators. It’s small package dimension makes it suitable for space saving designs and it can handle up to approximately 1A of output current.

The MAX6975ATL+ operates in a wide range of output configurations including step-down, step-up and inverting topologies when buck and boost operation is combined. This feature allows for flexible designs in terms of LED string voltage, LED string current and LED color. The device features configurable dimming and fault monitoring capabilities, along with dimming control via PWM or analog inputs. It also supports programmable thermal overload and open-circuit protection.

The MAX6975ATL+ also incorporates an internal clock signal generator with an adjustable duty cycle and frequency range, allowing for the design of flicker-free systems. The device contains several integrated protection features including programmable over current protection and open circuit protection. The MAX6975ATL+ also has an output disconnect mode which disables the output current and the output voltage when dimming is not needed.
