MAX853ESA+ is a DC-DC switching regulator belongs to voltage regulators category in Power Management IC (PMIC). It provides a single output and features a high-efficiency switch regulator with a maximum input voltage of 6V suitable for battery-operated portable applications. This DC-DC switching regulator delivers output voltage up to 5.5V regulated and up to 600mA with very high efficiency between the input and output levels. The MAX853ESA+ implements an inductor-based switching regulator design and utilizes pulse-width modulation(PWM) technique to achieve high output current and high efficiency at light load conditions. A PWM signal is generated by the device and fed to the gate of a external high-side switch to produce the high-frequency charge pump. The inductor works along with the switch to produce the required output voltage. The MAX853ESA+ is designed to operate in synchronization mode and hysteretic control operation. In Its synchronization mode, the device senses an external master clock signal and generates synchronized output frequency so the frequency switching noise doesn\'t reach into the output signal. This allows the device to operate at lower noise levels. The hysteretic control operations on the other hand, the device uses a voltage threshold to control the output voltage and doesn’t need external clock signal for operation. The MAX853ESA+ also features a selectable bypass mode that allows the device to bypass mode when input voltage is less than 2V and provide the required lower output noise. The device is further protected from faults such as input overvoltage, input reverse-voltage, and output over-current due its built in protection circuitry. In addition, the MAX853ESA+ has a low-current shut down mode only requiring 5µA of current when the device is shut down.
