The MAX8668ETEA+ is a low-dropout linear regulator (LDO) and a step-up/step-down regulator (BUCK-BOOST) integrated into one package. It is targeted at embedded systems and portable electronics. The integrated regulator provides both output voltage regulation and input current limiting features.The MAX8668ETEA+ can deliver up to 3 A (2 A continuous, and up to 3 A pulsed) at one of two selectable output voltages: either 0.8 V or 1.2V. It has a very low dropout voltage of 0.3 V, which makes it ideal for systems with very low input voltages. When configured as a step-up/step-down regulator, it can deliver up to 4 A output current (3 A continuous, and up to 4 A pulsed).The MAX8668ETEA+ provides a wide variety of features and capabilities. It has a low quiescent current of 2.5 µA in shutdown and 2.5 mA in regulation, which ensures excellent power efficiency. It also features an input voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V, an adjustable operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, and thermal and current limit protection.The MAX8668ETEA+ operates on pulse-width modulation (PWM) control, where the external PWM input is used to set the regulation voltage in a fast and efficient manner. This results in improved load regulation and better output voltage accuracy, while still providing a low output noise level and fast transient response.
