MAX8752ETA+T Application Field and Working Principle

MAX8752ETA+T is a voltage regulator in the field of Power Management ICs (PMIC), which falls into the special purpose category. Working Principle

The MAX8752ETA+T consists of a voltage regulator IC and a driver IC (ETAG). The voltage regulator IC is responsible for regulating output voltage, maintaining accuracy and preventing damage due to overvoltage. It produces a feedback signal which is sent to the driver IC. The driver IC is responsible for driving the regulator IC switches, managing the soft-start sequence, and operating frequency. The input voltage enters the regulator IC via the primary winding, while the auxiliary winding supplies the driver IC with the output voltage level information.

The synchronous drive input supplies pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals to the driver IC to control the switching operation of the regulator IC. The driver IC senses the feedback signal and then drives the regulator IC to maintain the output voltage at its rated value. The regulator IC switches on-off to maintain the output voltage, and the PWM signals adjust the on-off ratio to maintain the output voltage.

In order to maintain the output voltage, the MAX8752ETA+T also features adjustable undervoltage lockout and overvoltage protection. The adjustable undervoltage lockout prevents the IC from attempting operation in extreme conditions, while the overvoltage protection ensures that the output voltage is limited.
