The MAX8758EVKIT is a complete evaluation platform for evaluating, evaluating and/or designing electronic circuits using DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS with the MAX8758 synchronous, switch-mode, DC-to-DC step-down converter IC. The kit is a compact, low-cost evaluation platform that enables customers to easily evaluate the key features and performance characteristics of the MAX8758. It also features several of the most popular Voltage regulators, starting from linear and through switching technology (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, and Depletion-Type Boost).
The MAX8758EVKIT platform provides the customer with a fully populated prototype-ready evaluation board with all the SMPS components required. The fully assembled board allows the customer to evaluate the MAX8758 IC\'s voltage regulator functions easily, quickly and accurately. The core of the board is the MAX8758 IC, including a controller-integrated inductor. The board also includes several other components, allowing them to be tested and evaluated for design optimization and standardization. It does not require any external components or board modifications, reducing setup time from days to minutes.
The MAX8758EVKIT evaluation board\'s primary and secondary input and output voltage, current, and power ranges are named from 0.9V to 6.5V for primary side, 0.9V to 5.5V for secondary side. Maximum output current could vary from 0.1 A to 5 A as it is adjustable. It has 1A to 3A fixed output power for both primary side and secondary side, with a switching frequency ranging from 250kHz to 1.0 MHz in programmable steps. The feedback control loop allows the user to adjust switching frequencies up to 1MHz to achieve the desired output voltage level. The MAX8758EVKIT provides protection features such as over-current protection, over-temperature protection and short circuit protection.
The MAX8758EVKIT board\'s working principle is quite simple and follows the standard scheme of switching power supplies. The control system is based on the MAX8758 IC that acts as the central controller of the board. At the input of the device, voltage is provided and the core of the board takes this voltage and uses it to create a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal that drives the switching MOSFETs located on the board. These switching MOSFETs then control the current delivery to the output. By changing their "on" time, the output voltage is regulated. This is done by changing the duty cycle of the Pulse Width Modulation signal driving the MOSFETs. This in turn regulates the input voltage to the output voltage.
