The MAX8785AETI+T is a complete Power Management IC (PMIC) platform designed for lighting and ballast control applications such as outdoor, general indoor and industrial lighting. The device is capable of providing the required voltage and power required to drive LEDs and florescent lighting.

The MAX8785AETI+T integrates an integrated buck regulator, DC-DC converter, high-voltage tolerant Field Effect Transistors (FETs) and integrated MOSFET drivers into one package. The device comes in a very small 34-lead 6x6mm TQFN package and features a high-efficiency buck regulator and wide input voltage range of 2.6V to 28V. It includes a 0.8MHz switching frequency and dynamic output voltage control, allowing the device to meet the demands of the continuously changing power requirements of LED and florescent lighting applications.

The device incorporates the intelligent LED driver that utilizes real-time dimming to optimize the performance of LED lighting. It features a smart dimming via DC input voltage, dimming via PWM, and dimming via DAC for smooth and consistent illumination. The integrated FETs support large loads up to 2A peak. It also features an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and thermal shutdown (TSD) for improved reliability.

The MAX8785AETI+T PMIC also integrates a low-side and high-side MOSFET driver for driving LED loads up to 2A peak. The DC-DC converter has an adjustable output voltage range of 0.45V to 8V, allowing for multiple LED configurations. The integrated FETs are internally connected to the output providing the flexibility to use either an N-FET or P-FET at the output stage, allowing the device to be used in applications with single-ended or differential LEDs.

The MAX8785AETI+T features an adjustable current limit and an integrated under-voltage and over-voltage protection circuit that protect against any external voltage spikes and over-current situations. The integrated start-up current is adjustable, allowing for impedance matching of the circuit without any external components. The device also includes a low-voltage cut off, allowing the device to independently power down the LED string in low-voltage scenarios.
