The regulator also features thermal protection, which can be configured to shut down the device if the maximum safe operating temperature is exceeded.

The high-side MOSFET switch is used to control the current flow from the VOUT supply to the load. The switch is controlled by two pins: the Power Enable pin (EN) and the Control pin (CTL). When EN is low, the high-side MOSFET switch is disabled and the current does not flow. When EN is high, the switch is enabled and the current flows.

The Control pin (CTL) sets the load current. When CTL is low, the switch is fully on and the load current is at its maximum value. When CTL is high, the switch is partially on, reducing the load current. This allows the MAX895LESA+T to be used in applications such as power-saving and dynamic voltage scaling.
