Working Principle:

The MAX8969 is an integrated power coupler which combines a fault-protected MOSFET, a fault-protected diode, and a power-good (PGOOD) output. The kit provides the ability to measure the output voltage of the main regulator, output voltage of the low-dropout (LDO) regulator, and the auxiliary voltage for system power-on reset (POR). The MAX8969 includes a 10V prototyping area for adding external components such as EMI filters or other circuitry.
The MAX8969 provides protection against overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, and short-circuits. The IC also features a power-good (PGOOD) output which is pulled low when the output voltage is too low or when an overload condition is detected. The gate drive of the main MOSFET is optimized to provide high efficiency under light-load conditions, and the main MOSFET is protected with cycle-by-cycle current limit. The MAX8969 also includes an adjustable overvoltage protection (OVP) threshold for the output voltage. In addition, the device has a robust protection circuitry which includes a fault detection circuit and an adjustable soft-start.
